Where to find a rental property in Australia
4 minute read ⌚
If you want to get a good idea of what kind of property you can afford in Australia, you will want to check out the following websites.
Realestate.com.au

The main website we used to browse properties in Australia is https://www.realestate.com.au/
This website seems to be the Australian equivalent of Rightmove and the go-to choice for browsing the housing market.
Helpful Filters
The filters on realestate.com.au are really helpful for finding your ideal property.
With just a few clicks, you can define your budget and search on various other parameters such as –
- House type
- Price
- Swimming Pool 😍
- Air Conditioning.
Domain.com.au

Domain.com.au essentially does the same job as realestate.com.au, but presents it in a slightly different view.
The Zoopla to RE’s Rightmove, if you will.
I have found that most properties seem to be listed on both platforms. Although that is not to say that either site doesn’t get exclusives sometimes.
If you regularly check these sites, though, it’s likely you are covering the majority of the rental market.
Property Management Companies
If you want to drill down a little further in your search to find a rental property in Australia, you can check out some of the local property management/ Real estate company websites.
You may well unearth a property not yet listed on one of the two major sites listed above.
In the uber-competitive rental market that is Australia, anything that gives you the edge is worth a try.
Once you have found your dream property in Australia, you are going to have to go through property viewings and applications etc. Attending a property viewing in Australia when you are still living in the UK is not easy to do!
We used Rental Search AUSTRALIA to help us find our rental home in Adelaide, Australia and I cannot recommend them enough.
There will be more posts to come on our house search, but when you are in the UK looking for somewhere to call home. Having an expert on the ground in your chosen city is a no brainer.
