A Quick Recap
If you are coming to this blog post without knowing our backstory I’ll quickly update you on what stage we are at in our migration journey.
We are a family of 4 from Coventry, UK who aspire to move to Australia and start a new life in the Sun.
We are applying for a 190 permanent residency visa in South Australia.
You can view our timeline which begins from the moment that we engaged a migration agent and will keep ticking until we touch down on Australian soil.
The main applicant is a primary school teacher and we achieved state nomination from South Australia in just over 2 months.
As previously mentioned, we have used a migration agent for our visa application.
It’s not a requirement but a personal choice.
What We’ve Spent to Date
How much money does it cost to move from the UK to Australia? We can only outline what we’ve spent to date so far.
It’s a significant amount though.
The dream of living in the sunshine close to a beach does unfortunately not come cheap.
Below you can see an outline of our costs in the table below.

None of the costs are a shock as our agents were transparent from the start and gave us a rough timeline of when we would expect to pay for things.
To be fair to them, they’ve been spot-on so far! Even if we thought the visas and Medicals might come after Christmas 🙈
We paid our agents fees in 3 instalments which coincided with different milestones.
Costs Still to Come
Of course, there are plenty more costs still to come. We still have to –
- Book flights
- Ship Items to Australia – use our Send My Bag link to save 5% on your order
- Decorating house ready for sale
- Rental bond
Anything else from then onwards is perhaps a ‘living in Australia cost’ rather than a ‘moving to Australia cost’.
