Packing Up to Move to Australia
4 minute read ⌚
This weekend we’ve been packing away and sorting through the house.
It’s been emotional and cathartic. With most items, it’s really easy to just make quick decisions about whether to pack, sell or donate.
However, I seem attached to the kids’ baby clothes and have really struggled to part with them 😢.
The first outfit home, first Christmas outfit and first birthday garms should be enough to satisfy the need to hold on to sentimental bits. But alas, there are still bags of babygrows I can’t say goodbye to!
What are we shipping to Australia?
We have chosen to send over sentimental items and some clothes and shoes. Therefore, the best option for us is to use a small Movecube from Seven Seas. Our furniture isn’t something we are attached to, nor do we have anything new or expensive that we would be missing out on in our new home down under.
Things we will be shipping include:
- Trophies, medals and other accolades
- Photos and keepsakes
- Vinyl – having got rid of a LOT of CDs, this was a non-negotiable
- A few toys (including a bag of Squishmallows- I know others feel this pain!)
- Clothes and shoes including heavier items to save space and weight in the suitcases
- PS5 and accessories
- Some of our books- difficult decisions to be made!
This is one job we are looking to finish soon. If you are looking for any more information about packing or shipping, don’t hesitate to contact us and follow our journey on Instagram.
